It all ended well. Eli (who may be leaving Wednesday, two days shy of 8 weeks), who hadn't been drinking at all last night, offered to take a taxi with her to the car and then drove her and the car to a hotel where she stayed the night.
While my P.R. skills are a little rusty (I think I was channeling an after-school special), I did the right thing. And after some convincing, everyone seems to agree.
And now I'm back at work. Joy.
